Renting an Alamo hire car to pick up in Argentina is hassle-free, and you have the opportunity to select a model to meet you and your family or party's needs. It's the most convenient and economical way to travel while you are enjoying your holiday.
With 1,072,067 square miles of territory crossed by 143,769 miles of roads, Argentina is a country where you'll really need a car! It's the eighth largest country in the world and although most visitors focus their time in cities such as Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Rosario and Mendoza, the countryside really deserves to be seen. From towering mountains in the west to vast grasslands in the south, jungle in the northeast and mile upon mile of rivers flowing throughout, Argentina has it all. Arrange your car hire before you go to make sure you don't miss out.
Argentina's Ruta 40, which runs from La Quiaca on the Bolivian border all the way down to El Chaltén, is widely considered to provide one of the best driving experiences in the world. It's certainly one of the wildest! Affectionately known as La Cuarenta, it's the place Che Guevara loved to ride his motorbike, and it will take you through some of the most dramatic scenery the country has to offer, including bizarre rock formations, remote pampas and a petrified forest.
Although most Argentinean roads are in good condition, there are parts of Patagonia largely served by dirt tracks, so if you plan to visit that region, it's a good idea to see if your car rental outfit in Argentina can provide you with a more rugged vehicle. Some parts of the country are very isolated, so if you plan to travel in these areas, you should carry basic supplies - food, water, blankets and a radio (mobile phones don't always get a signal) - in case you get stranded. You should be especially careful in Gran Chaco during the monsoon season, when rainfall rolling down hillsides can occasionally sweep cars off the road, but in most places and for most of the year, you're unlikely to have problems.
Unless otherwise stated, the urban speed limit is 60kph and the speed limit on the highways is 100kph (though some go right up to 120kph). Don't worry though, this isn't as fast as it sounds, 100kph is only just over 60mph.
