Renting an Alamo hire car to pick up in Mexico is hassle-free, and you have the opportunity to select a model to meet you and your family or party's needs. It's the most convenient and economical way to travel while you are enjoying your holiday.
One of the world's most populous countries, Mexico, is a place where there's always something going on, but if you're only familiar with the cities, you'll be amazed by how much there is to discover beyond them. With little decent quality long distance transport available in Mexico, car hire is a must, and it will give you the opportunity to get out and explore.
Although it may not look it on standard maps, Mexico is actually the 14th largest county in the world, and it includes a great diversity of landscapes, from towering peaks to low, lush river valleys, striking canyons carved out of the rock over thousands of years, wide plains and dense jungles. Over 10% of the world's biodiversity can be found in this one country, and visitors enjoying long, slow drives through its remoter regions should look out for jaguars, black bears, crocodiles and bright-billed toucans flashing through the trees. Off the Pacific coast, you can see blue whales and many other species of aquatic mammals, and in some places it's possible to swim with dolphins.
There are also manmade wonders to explore in Mexico, including spectacular Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza, Tulum and Uxmal on the Yucatan peninsula, where you can also travel through the great (though now almost invisible) crater from an asteroid collision around 65 million years ago.
When you arrange your rental car, don't forget to pick up a map, as it's easy to get lost in a place of this size. You'll find that the fastest and easiest way to get around is on the toll roads (fairly expensive but worth the time saved if you only have a short holiday), but even the back roads are generally in better condition than in many countries to the south, though it's often wise to travel comfortably below the speed limit to cope with rough patches. Some truckers often break the speed limit and can be very aggressive, but most Mexican drivers are courteous and there's even a special programme of Green Angels (in green trucks) providing free assistance to drivers who run into trouble.
